Testo: A factory in a Fast Moving Consumer Goods sector is seeking a partner investor to develop a wheat processing plant producing wheat flour, pasta and biscuits. The Market Ethiopia is the largest grower of wheat in Sub-Saharan Africa and produced 4.2m metric tons of wheat in 2014. Wheat is the third most consumed cereal crop in Ethiopia following maize and tef. Increase western taste palates and the growing middle class as well as expats in Ethiopia gives rise to demand in processed goods such as pasta and biscuits. Ethiopia’s second largest wheat based imports is pasta totaling 40 million USD, followed by wheat flour and lastly bread, cake and biscuits. The Company A Food Complex Project, a company of a big Corporate in Ethiopia that has over a dozen successful companies in the country and has a very good relationships with the government, is looking to develop a large-scale wheat processing plant, producing wheat flour, pasta and biscuits. At full capacity the plant can process up to 250 tons of raw wheat per day and 75,000 tons per annum. Investment Opportunity The Project requires an initial investment of $USD 32 million, with a Net Present Value of $USD 49 million and an Internal Rate of Return of 30%. The company is looking for an investor and a strategic partner who brings expertise in food processing, especially wheat products like pasta. At a minimum, they are looking for an investment of at least $USD 9.6m (30%), the rest funded by a bank loan if needed
